Rihanna Takes The Balenciaga X Vibram FiveFingers Boot Into The Wild

Do you think Rihanna would be caught dead in Crocs? Of course not! The musician-turned-mogul wears a different breed of rubber shoe: the Balenciaga X Vibram FiveFingers boot. The audacious footwear splashed its way down the brand’s water-logged runway at its apocalyptic Paris Fashion Week show, but the cult-hit-in-the-making boots haven’t been spotted in the wild. Until now.

Rihanna was pictured on Melissa Forde’s Instagram account with another key member of the Fenty Corp, Jennifer Rosales. The trio posed in a woodland area, with Rih looking hi-vis in the middle thanks to her yellow Sacai gilet. Styled with Vetements track pants and those trainer-boot hybrids, it was a rare moment of Rihanna as herself, without her business hat on and without a Fenty product to promote.

We all know Rihanna loves a conversation-starting accessory. When latter-day loyalists Emily Ratajkowski and Hailey Bieber were still sniffing out The Pouch bags, Rih already owned them in several squishy colourways. Her collection of rare Louis Vuitton bags – including limited-edition trunk collaborations with the artists Frank Gehry and Takashi Murakami – is unrivalled. And now, she’s making her own sell-out products, including her recent Fenty x Amina Muaddi heels and her line of Fenty sunglasses, which counts the Hadids and the Jenners as fans.

Rihanna has always had a soft spot for Balenciaga, however. Even a rival conglomerate (Fenty is owned by LVMH, while Balenciaga sits in Kering’s stable) can’t get in the way of a head-turning shoe trend. Bitch better have her Balenciaga.
